Our story

Reading video games through every discipline

Lex Ludica is a French-language publication dedicated to the video game industry, now also available in English. It brings together lawyers, economists, historians, critics, psychologists and industry professionals around a shared ambition: understanding a medium that has become a major cultural industry.

How it all began

It all started with an encounter on LinkedIn. Moez, Maleine and Aaron, three video game enthusiasts with a background in law, crossed paths through their posts, exchanged a few messages, and soon an idea took shape on its own: relaunching a blog dedicated to video games.

At first, the angle was resolutely legal. We felt that social media lacked a place to talk seriously about video game law: contracts, intellectual property, and the disputes that shape the industry every day. Lex Ludica was born from this desire to fill a gap.

Then, article after article, we realised the gap was smaller than we thought. The literature on video game law was growing, and more and more practitioners and researchers were taking up the subject. Rather than adding one more voice to the same chorus, we chose to widen the frame.

That is how the idea of bringing in other profiles was born: economists, historians, designers, developers, translators, students… Diverse backgrounds, united by the same curiosity for a medium that deserves to be seen from every angle. Today, Lex Ludica is above all a place of exchange, where everyone brings their own perspective to better understand what video games say about us and about our times.

Our approach

Each analysis starts from a specific fact, a court decision, a report, a release or a business model, and sheds light on it with the rigour of a discipline. Articles are sourced, referenced and reviewed before publication.
